Payment Guide

This article explains how to use each of the online payment methods offered during checkout:

Card payment via Sagepay

This option provides credit and debit card processing with advanced security thanks to support for 'Verified by Visa' and 'Mastercard SecureCode' - the online equivalent of Chip & Pin.

Paying by card should be very straight forward, since all that is required are the details as found on your card.

Note: Should you encounter an issue where you are repeatedly prompted for your card details without the order going through, please close your browser and try again. You may rest assured that we will not charge your card multiple times.

PayPal allows registered customers to pay from their account balance, as well as accepting the following debit and credit cards:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • Maestro
  • American Express *
  • Discover
  • Bank Funding *

* Only available in certain regions

Using PayPal is recommended if you'd like to use your PayPal account or if you want to use Amex in the UK.

To use PayPal to pay for your GT Decorations order, click on the PayPal button during checkout. The following screenshots show the interaction with the PayPal Interface.

The image below shows the main elements of the PayPal interface:
PayPal interface

  1. At the top a 'summary' of your order is displayed.
Note that this will always show a quantity of '1' for your entire cart and that VAT (if applicable) is shown separately. You will however find that the total is the same as that previously shown on the cart page.
  2. On the right hand side there is a form for logging in if you have a PayPal account.
  3. On the left hand side there is a small link to 'continue' if you do not have an account and wish to pay by card instead. The following screen will prompt for your billing details. This is fairly straight forward and not further covered in this guide, but you may nevertheless like to read on, since some screens may be very similar.
  4. If you need to make changes or wish to cancel the checkout, click 'cancel and return to GT Decorations' at the bottom of any screen.

The next image shows the 'Review your Payment' screen:

  1. You can add a message, for example to advise the delivery company of opening times.
  2. PayPal allows your payment to be funded by a variety of different methods, including your PayPal account balance, se called 'eCheques' or debit and credit cards.
Click 'Change' in the 'Payment Method' section to select a different funding source (More about this below).
  3. To change your delivery address, click 'Change' in the 'Post to' section (see below).
  4. The 'pay now' button in the bottom right is the last step for comfirming your details and placing your order. You should check all the details on the page carefully before using it.

Following from the 2nd option above, the 'Funding Options' screen looks like this:

  1. Choose a payment method on the left. If you have any credit or debit cards in your account there will be a separate selection for these as well. (This particular demonstration account doesn't have any cards)
  2. To add a new credit or debit card, use the 'Add Credit Card' link in the top right. This will open a page to do just that:
    PayPal 'Add Credit Card' screen
As you can see it is easily possible to change the card type and billing address on this page. Card details will be prompted depending on the card type selected.

If you used the 3rd option above, the 'Post to' section will expand to offer you a selection of address from your PayPal address book, in addition to a few buttons to apply or cancel the selection, or to add an address:

In case of problems...

We generally recommend the use of the Card/Sagepay option due to its superior security features ('Verified by Visa' and 'Mastercard SecureCode' - the online equivalent of Chip & Pin). But if you experience difficulties, whether because of an error message, your card not being recognised, or simply that you cannot find the link or button that does what you want, you may like to try using Paypal, as they do not require creation of an account when you purchase from us.
