Disney's 'Jungle Book' at White Rock School (Paignton, Devon) - April 2008

Decorated clothing for the case

White Rock School recently put on a production of Disney's 'Jungle Book'.
As this was a musical version, the chorus were on stage all the time so it was decided to make them part of the cast as a 'living jungle' backdrop!

The chorus children were paired up (two casts) and provided with a basic tunic. They were then asked to design a jungle plant theme for it.

Using material shapes and foliage from a selection ordered from GT Decorations, they then used lesson time or took them home to sew or stick (firmly!) their selection onto the tunics. By using a random selection on each costume the jungle effect was well blended and this was enhanced by the use of yellow lilies and large philodendron leaves which helped to combine the overall effect.
The children added brown or green tights and topped off their costumes using trailing foliage or clusters of leaves from the GT Decorations selection.

The costumes looked stunning!

Uniquely designed head dresses

Sadly we cannot show the children wearing their costumes, but hope that these photos give a flavour of the costume designs.

GT Decorations were very helpful, prompt and efficient in dealing with the two orders we sent them. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to any other schools or organisations considering putting on a production with similar costume or props requirements.
